D.I.S. Testing
Testing on the D.I.S. (Conduct Information System), a distributed system designed to collect, transfer and manage data generated on board of the rolling stocks.
Activities
Laboratory Setup
Installation and management of LO.RE modules on the C.A.N. bus (Controller Area Network) to create the correct composition of the train to be tested;
Interface with the remote terminal to simulate operations carried out by conduct driver;
Use of the function generator to simulate the arrival of signals to DIS from other devices;
Preparation of the configuration different to various types of train, for the STS, the DSTMClient and the Monitor2000 program (owned by TrenItalia), which allows to set the recorded data to be downloaded into the Black Box and the ZTE and to remotely configure the train composition and the set-up of certain variables.
Drafting of specifications and test reports
Preparation of test specifications aimed to verify different functions. The test cases must fully explicit:
- Functional requirements
- Performance Requirements
- Interface Requirements
- Operational requirements
- Safety requirements
- Constrain Design
The tests are organized according to the following main features:
- Main operational mode
- Management of initial self-test of the module and of the entire device
- Management (master) of the CANBus serial line for communication with I/O (LO.RE.) modules
- Management (master) of a RS485 Half-duplex serial line for communication with the TER.
- Management (master) of a RS485 Full-duplex serial line for communication with the DSTM.
- Management of MVB bus communication with other devices on board.
- Management of failures
- Serial interface (RS232) with PC for parameters configuration and for Serial Debug
- Serial interface (RS232) with PC for application FW updating
- Download of recorded data
- Management of transit instructions (in an economical mode)
The activities, methods, techniques, tools, resources and specifications (test cases, test environment, evaluation criteria), necessary to perform testing of software requirements for the "DIS Central Unit” system in accordance with prEN 50128:2000 - Railway applications - Software for railway control and protection systems, must be identified and described.
Software Validation Report , which aims to record the results of the validation process according to the SW Validation plan and to the SW Requirements Testing Specifications, must be prepared.
Functional Testing
Verification, via the execution of the appropriate test suites, of the software behavior conformity. The SW then is to be loaded onto the Central DIS Unit CPU in accordance to the Software Requirements Specification document.
To run the tests, the following tools are used:
- CANcardX board inserted into the PC driver;
- Function generator;
- SERLINK98 (Flash 98) Software for upload operations towards the CPU;
- CANalyzer Software for sending and receiving data on the CAN bus (connecting the probe on the CAN bus);
- MicroTap Software to monitor serial lines and two RS232 serial lines;
- Antenna to capture geographical and temporal GPS data;
- 24V - 5A supply unit;
- DSTM, connected to the DIS Central Unit module via port 485 (to test data recording);
- Remote terminal;
- Wiring.
